Associate Scientist/Scientist, Target Discovery

At KSQ Therapeutics, we seek to understand the role of every human gene in each disease, each tissue, and each cell that we study. This comprehensive approach has resulted in a massive, experimentally derived dataset that we have found to be remarkably predictive of past successes and failures in oncology and immuno-oncology product development. Utilizing this approach, we also identified a number of opportunities for the development of new medicines. As a result, we have aggressively invested in these distinct, highly validated pathways for new drug development with the expectation that the medicines we create may become the next breakthrough products for patients.

Founded in late 2015, KSQ is a preclinical-stage biotech in Kendall Square that has rapidly advanced the field of CRISPR-enabled functional genomics, from in vitro cell autonomous screens to more complex genome-scale screens of immune cells in vivo. The company has expanded the scope of its technology to include multiple cell types and to unlock areas beyond oncology. KSQ is led by a team of accomplished industry experts in drug discovery and development.

Position Summary:

KSQ Therapeutics, Inc. is seeking an exceptional and highly motivated scientist to apply their experience in molecular biology towards the discovery of the next generation of impactful therapies. This skilled scientist will contribute to target validation and cell biology efforts to characterize novel cancer pathways and develop assays for drug targets. They must be driven and flexible with the broad number of in vitro, in vivo, and biomarker activities associated with cancer drug discovery. This is an opportunity to learn, contribute and flourish in KSQ’s dynamic, highly interdisciplinary, and collaborative environment.

  • Associate Scientist: BS degree with 1-3 years of industry experience / Scientist: MS degree preferred with 2-4+ years of industry experience in oncology drug discovery required
  • Experience with modern techniques for assaying gene function and pathway biology (CRISPR, RNAi, qPCR, NGS, Immunofluorescence, Western blots, FACS etc.), a big plus
  • Demonstrated expertise in cancer research with relevant tissue culture experience and cell-based assays
  • Developed and applied unique assays to identify and characterize novel targets, with a focus on in vitro assays
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to work across functions and with collaborators
  • Assist in querying novel pathways and mechanisms for therapeutic intervention
  • The successful candidate will work as part of an interdisciplinary team contributing to the design and execution of experiments that support our research activities and project goals
