KSQ Therapeutics, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Scientist, Biotherapeutics Drug Discovery position in Cambridge, MA. KSQ Therapeutics has built an industry-leading genome-scale precision functional genomics platform, called CRISPRomics, to pinpoint therapeutic nodes that directly correlate genomic function to disease with unprecedented certainty and speed. The company is deploying CRISPRomics for novel drug development across broad therapeutic areas and is advancing a proprietary pipeline of tumor- and immune-focused drug candidates for oncology. KSQ was founded by thought leaders in the field of functional genomics and pioneers of CRISPR screening technologies. The company is located in Kendall Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Position Summary

KSQ Therapeutics is seeking an exceptional and highly motivated Scientist to join the BIotherapeutics Drug Discovery group.  The successful applicant will work with internal functional groups and external CRO partners to design and execute therapeutic antibody discovery campaigns and screening strategies, as well as biotherapeutic optimization – including engineering to convert between antibody formats, humanize, enhance affinity and modulate other biophysical properties of hit and lead antibodies.

Key Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in molecular/cellular biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline
  • 4+ years of experience in a biopharmaceutical setting
  • A record of significant achievements in research and scientific creativity in the areas of inflammation, autoimmunity, immuno-oncology, and/or drug discovery
  • Experience with antibody discovery and engineering
  • Hands-on experience in the design, execution, and analysis of biochemical, molecular, and/or cellular assays for the testing of biotherapeutics from discovery to lead-optimization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills for participating across functional groups and externally
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and creatively as part of a fast-paced research team
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality, attention to detail, and team player mentality

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing CROs
  • Protein engineering expertise including mammalian cell culture and transfection, protein purification, and characterization including Octet and/or Biacore
  • Expertise in standard immunological laboratory techniques

Responsibilities

  • Work with internal functional groups and external CRO partners to develop, optimize and execute high throughout binding assays (ELISA, Octet, Biacore) and cell based assays (functional, phenotypic, reporter etc.) for screening panels of therapeutic antibody candidates
  • Document and present experimental data, hypotheses, conclusions and interpretations at company and team meetings
  • Contribute to patent applications, writing scientific publications, and presenting at external conferences
  • Participate in various aspects of building new company capabilities
